“Turn your face to the sun and let the shadows fall behind.”
Kajal, Mahek and Roshni (L to R) study in class 3 at a government school in Katargam. They take their time to learn at school and often lag behind the average students.
Back in the community a few months back when I visited their homes one at a time I learnt that they come from a family wherein their parents are engaged in work one form or the other for almost all the day. Moreover their monthly income falls below 2K.
Yes! Mahek and Roshni are special children but excellent storytellers. I have done a lot of Storigami (Origami + Storytelling) sessions with them. Mahek, the girl in the middle loves to make the cat face and has coined her name as “toku”. It is always fun to learn and share with them.
Imagine! coming from these challenging background their eyes are always filled with belief that their lives will be better for the days to come.
All I reflect relates to a quote by Anna Lee,
Remember even though the outside world might be raining, if you keep on smiling the sun will soon show its face and smile back at you.
